Having a goal or intention is good. Step by step is the way toward that goal. At pace of step by step it can allow us to change our minds our if we need to.
Looking only at the big picture you may miss an important detail. The corner of the painting that is really good and the rest isn’t working. Instead of throwing the whole thing out you can see what’s good and what’s working. That detail can help you focus. That detail can help you pivot.
the brush images here are details from a bigger paintings that didn’t work
Uncovering roots is a way of understanding what is underneath and what grounds us.
In grade school most kids will take a seed and use a paper towel in a glass jar and “plant” the seed and are able to watch the seed get roots. Another way to see roots is when some plants sprout roots if you don’t use cook them soon, like potatoes. But most of the time we don’t have the opportunity to observe roots because they’re in the ground and really not thought of much, until there is a problem.
These images were made in a recent workshop. My view and uncovering roots.
The End
The Beginning
In the spirit of transitions, I’m sharing my art that speaks to endings with hope toward a new beginning, as well as prose that inspire.
